The terms, in plain language

What happens when you reserve a place with us, written the way we would want to read it ourselves.

Last updated July 2026

These terms cover reservations for Nordnile journeys, retreats and day tours booked through our booking pages or by email. They are written in plain language on purpose; if anything is unclear, write to info@nordnile.se before you book, and a person will answer.

I

Reserving a place

A reservation request through our booking pages is not yet a booking. We reply by email to confirm availability, and your place is held once we have received your deposit. Places are limited on every journey, and are confirmed in the order deposits arrive.

II

Deposit and payment

Deposit, due to confirm your place25% of the journey price
Balance, due before departure60 days
Bookings made within 60 days of departureFull payment at booking
Day toursFull payment at booking

Payment is by bank transfer or the payment link in your confirmation email. Prices are quoted in the currency shown on each journey page; any figures shown in a second currency are indicative and follow the day's exchange rate.

III

If you need to cancel

Tell us in writing as soon as you can; the date we receive your email is the date that counts.

60 days or more before departureDeposit refunded, less any costs already committed on your behalf
30 to 59 days before departure50% of the journey price
Fewer than 30 days, or no-show100% of the journey price

These windows mirror the terms our lodges and boats hold us to. Where we can recover a cost, we pass the recovery on to you; we do not profit from cancellations.

IV

If we change or cancel

Our scheduled departures run as published, including with small groups; we do not cancel a journey because too few places sold. In the rare event that we must cancel for reasons within our control, you receive a full refund, including your deposit. Where events beyond anyone's control (weather, authority decisions, force majeure) require changes to an itinerary, we will provide the closest reasonable alternative, and we will always tell you as early as we possibly can.

V

Travel insurance

Travel insurance is required for all multi-day journeys, covering at minimum medical care, repatriation and cancellation. We ask for your policy details before departure. Day tours do not require proof of insurance, but we recommend it.

VI

Documents, health and fitness

You are responsible for a passport valid at least six months beyond your travel dates, and for any visa Egypt requires of your nationality; most visitors can obtain an e-visa or visa on arrival, and we will point you to the official channel in your confirmation email. Our journeys are gentle, but they involve walking on sand and uneven ground; tell us about any condition or mobility need when you book, and we will tell you honestly whether a journey suits.

VII

The small print, kept small

  • Itineraries name the experiences we commit to; the order of days may shift with river and site conditions.
  • Rates include what each journey page lists as included, and nothing it lists as excluded.
  • Unused portions of a journey are not refundable once travel has begun.
  • We may use photographs taken by our team on journeys in our own materials; tell us at booking if you prefer not to appear, and we will respect it.
  • Nordnile is based in Gothenburg, Sweden, and these terms are governed by Swedish law.
VIII

Talk to us first

Most travel problems are solved by an early email. Whatever the situation, write to info@nordnile.se and we will work it out with you like people, not policies.

Egypt, with reverence.
